EFT and Sex Therapy Supervision

I hold the distinction of being the only ICEEFT Certified EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) Supervisor and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor (CST-S) in the U.S. and the world; offering EFT and Sex Therapy supervision.

Clinical supervision is an intensive educational process that facilitates the therapeutic competence of the supervisee over time. To emphasize client welfare, supervision typically is provided by someone who possesses more experience than the supervisee and is skilled in the area in which the supervisee seeks supervision. Supervision is not counseling but is a circumscribed set of skills that monitor the quality of the service provided by the supervisee. Supervision can be used to assess who is adequate at providing competent services to the public, and to obtain skills that facilitate certification and licensure.

Supervision:

  • Prioritizes the care of the client/patient and the protection of the public.
  • Focuses on the acquisition of competence by and the professional development of the supervisee.
  • Occurs within a respectful and collaborative supervisory relationship, that includes facilitative and evaluative components, and which is established, maintained, and repaired as necessary.
  • Intentionally infuses and integrates the dimensions of diversity in all aspects of professional practice.
  • Is influenced by both professional and personal factors including values, attitudes, beliefs, and interpersonal biases.
  • Is conducted in adherence to ethical and legal standards.
  • Uses a developmental and strength-based approach.
  • Requires reflective practice and self-assessment by the supervisor and supervisee.
  • Incorporates bi-directional feedback between the supervisor and supervisee.
  • Includes evaluation of the acquisition of expected competencies by the supervisee.
